Day Twenty: Stacked

I am constantly stopped by people asking me where I got so stacked. Well the credit for my stack goes to two of my favorite sisters, Lisa and Carolyn. Owners and designers of the line of jewelry, Sisco Family Jewels. Their bracelets are meant to be mixed, matched and.... stacked, they look great piled on together and are a great gift idea because you not only custom create your group but can keep adding more.

Day Eight: Hit the Books

What could be better than curling up with a good book on a cold winters night. Make it a book or magazine ( we recommend Vouge) about fashion and your night just got better. Here are a couple of our top picks for the fashion reader in your life.

Day Seven: Stuffed

I absolutely love the work of Tamar Mogendorff. I first discoverd Mogendorff , a handstitch artist out of NYC, at Louis Boston. She creates gorgeous creatures from a variety of vintage fabrics and treads. One or several of her pieces would make a beautiful gift for that special person on your list.

Locally Mogendorff's art can be found at Flock in the South End.

Day Three: An Urban Legend

One of my favorite NY jewelry and accessory designers is Lizzie Fortunato, from her inspirational lookbooks to her ultra cool mixed material pieces, she is a designer I just can't get enough of. Pieces from her collection are sold locally at a couple of my "go to" boutiques Looc and Stels. But, for those of you on a tight holiday budget I just discovered that Lizzie has done a collaboration with Urban Outfitters. This very limited edition bracelet makes a great stocking stuffer or babysitter gift and the price will allow you to buy one of her collection pieces for yourself.

Hope Marian by Lizzie Fortunato Jewels $28.00

Big City of Dreams

If loving New York is wrong then I don't wanna be right. Having just returned from taking a bite of the "Big Apple" , these are my thoughts.
1. I love New York.

2. I love shopping in New York even more.

3. Why is it that we don't have a cool farmers market like the one they have in Union Square, and if we did would everyone go?

4. City Bakery hot chocolate really is off the hook.

5. Getting yourself lost in a neighborhood is the best way to get to know it, maybe the same thing is true for people.

6. I'd like to live in ABC carpet and home

7. I can never go to NYC without also going to Cafe Gitane and getting the Morracan CousCous.

8. I have love affairs with stores and my current amour is Albertine. I found some beautiful new pieces in both her clothing shop and also downstairs in her newly opened jewelry store, Love.

9. When I am in NYC without her it always makes me miss my sister.

10. Tiny stores remind me of jewelry boxes full of treasures waiting to be discovered.

11. The Guggenheim is an amazing place.

12. Refinery29 is hot and their SAVE FASHION EVENT rocked.

I ended up with a couple of great pieces like a Slub by Rick Owens jacket for 70 bucks!

Now you can see why I heart NYC.

This or That

The eighties look is back for better or worse, so here is the high and low.
From left: This cool denim leather combo jacket brought to us by wonder boy Alexander Wang (Shopbop for $1,285.00). Urban Outfitters is a go to source for getting your shot of hip without breaking your budget. You can pick up this Silence and Noise jacket for $138.00. Which ever you choose just remember you don't want to look like your going to a costume party, one piece with an eighties vibe is enough.

Positively Pleated

It's right on trend to have a great pair of pleated pants in your fall wardrobe and I am loving both of these great options. The Jcrew pant comes in at a reasonable $118.00, while the pair from Boy by Band of Outsiders available on my favorite online site La garconne comes in at a more hefty $514.00. Which ever version you chose I highly suggest balancing out the look with a heel and making sure your top is loosely tucked.

Daniela Corte's Fashion Show

Nothing sweeter than taking your daughters to work day, especially for them when work involves a fashion show. Robin Hauck, editor at large of, and I took our beautiful girls to Daniela Corte's fashion show. A local Boston fashion designer , Daniela held her Spring 2010 show in a great studio in South Boston during Boston's Fashion Week. The show was spicy and hot just like Daniela and we all had a blast. Though her runway looks were styled to be super sexy, keep an open mind, Daniela designs for the every woman. The fabrics and prints she uses are beautiful, her main goal is to make her clients feel good and usually they feel just as sexy as those runway models, without needing to show quite so much skin.

Loving this amazing ankle cowboy boot(top: $225.00) by Boutique9, a shoot off of Nine West. A great option if you want the look of the Golden Goose boot (bottom: $1165.00) for a fraction of the price.

Brotherly Love

If you get a chance to spend some time in Philadelphia, take it. The shopping, is great. I spent Saturday in Olde City, and while the sidewalks were clogged with people trying to absorb a bit of the history that saturates these streets, I was soaking in the stores. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Sugarcube Has a great mix of current designers like A.P.C. and Ulla Johnson and some really fun vintage finds for both men and women.

From there it was a hop and a skip over to Third Street Habit . January, the owner of Habit, gave me a quick rundown of her shop. Not only is Habit the only store in Philadelphia that carries, the french cult favorite and impossible to find online, Isabel Marant, you'll also find an extensive jean collection and some fantastic shoe and bag lines. Add to that a helpful staff that is willing to spend time showing their customers how to put the looks together and you've got a must stop shop. I'm debating on scooping up the Marant dress that January was wearing, but couldn't resist grabbing a bag from local designer Astrid.

Moving on from there I headed over to Second Street to Reward
a great women's and men's boutique with an edge. Reward is getting prepared for all the fantastic fall and winter pieces that are on their way so they were clearing out all their past season merchandise by marking it 75% off. My favorite frenchie Vanessa Bruno was among the sale racks and let's just say I needed a BIG bag when I left.

Today I'm off to Rittenhouse Square to see what little treasures are lurking there.
