Seven and Eight....Hope Your Weekend is Great!

The Hat: Gone are the days of your sun-in highlights and lemon juice created blonde streaks, your colorist handles that department now, not your camp bunkmate. Protecting that $300.00 investment means wearing a hat during these summer months, and I can't think of two better than these, one for the beach and one for the streets.

The Dress: Nothing says apres-beach cocktails on the deck better then a great summer dress. This one from Rachel Pally for Shopbop. Makes me feel like I've been transported to the set of Spartacus, now if only I could find some Gladiators to hang with.

Five and Six on our must have list!

5. The Flat: As much as I love my four inch heels, something flat and easy to move in just feels right for summer days. These DVF flats can be worn with your beach pants or a pretty little sundress.

6. The Shades: Yes, they are needed all year round but, you never feel more naked without them then in the blazing days of summer. I fell in love with these durable sunglasses, made by local company Randolph Engineering , last year and plan on making them a staple this summer too.. You can find these and many other styles at stel's.

2 More essentials

3. The Tote. In the summer months you leave the house in the morning and don't return till the sun has set. You need a great bag that can keep up with your day from the farmers market to dinner on the patio of your favorite restaurant. This one from Masion Martin Margiela has just the right amount of fun factor to make it your perfect summer tote.

4. The Book. Nothing makes goes better with your beach blanket than a great book. I can't wait to crack the binding on this series. The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. If this doesn't interest you check out your local independent bookstore to find one that does.

Top picks for a lovely Memorial Day

It's the first kick off of summer. The grills are getting fired up the sun block is getting slattherd on and the beaches are filling up. here are my must haves for that first kiss of summer.

1. You can't hit the beaches, the lakes or the country club pools without the perfect swimsuit. Try a two piece in a sophisticated navy by Milly or opt for a sexy one piece by Spanx, that keeps your parts where they were meant to be.

2. Whether you are headed to the beachside bar or find yourself lingering long after the sun has set, a cover up that feels effortless and stylish all at once is a must have. The gorgeous handworked pieces from the LemLem line can be found a several local boutiques, like Looc and Good as well as a few online sites like J.CREW.

Check back tomorrow for two more summer essentials.
